PEOPLE LIKE GAMES!
Thats true. And it’s also the name of a podcast that talks about video games.
Two weeks ago my brother helped put together a Super Smash Bros tournament in Huntington with a friend of his, Ahmad Khan. Ahmad is the co-host of a podcast called “People Like Games”, where he and a buddy of his talk about video games, the industry, the tech, and more.
They’ve been planning to host an event like this for a while now. About a month ago the stars aligned and they finally had their chance to make it happen. They held the event at Repeal XVIII, a bar located on New Street in Huntington Village.
Smash geeks from far and wide gathered to compete in the tourney. Repeal XVIII was a perfect fit for the contest. They have a massive projector screen in the back along with a ton of seating and two huge bars.
News 12 came and covered the event while 48 brave nerds smashed until a sole victor remained. The winner would win a $250 Best Buy gift card and bragging rights. You’re probably wondering if I played… I did play. I got three rounds in before getting knocked out. I think I put up a good fight, especially for having half a dozen drinks at the bar beforehand.
Well since it was such a hit, they are doing it again! It will be held at Repeal XVIII again at 5pm on February 24th. 48 players max, 21 years and up to play. For more info, listen to the People Like Games podcast which can be listened to on Soundcloud.
